Government to build 35,000 apartments

In first phase, 4,000 housing units will be constructed in LDA City at estimated cost of Rs40b

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has announced the construction of 35,000 apartments in an unprecedented project of the housing sector. The apartments will be constructed on 8,000 kanals of land.

Speaking to the media on Saturday, he added that Punjab government had started implementing the agenda of equal development for all cities of Punjab including Lahore.

In the first phase 4,000 apartments were being set up in the LDA City with an estimated cost of Rs40 billion. He directed officials concerned to complete the initial proceeding of the housing project at the earliest. Buzdar sought report from the transport department about electric buses. “The electric bus project will bring positive change in transport culture and eradicate smog from the city.”

In order to provide modern and quality healthcare facilities, a state-of-the-art 1,000-bed hospital will be launched on Ferozepur Road, he stated.

Two overhead bridges and two underpasses will be constructed for the smooth flow of traffic of Lahore, he announced.
