Sindh reports over 1,000 new Covid cases

12 more persons succumb to coronavirus

Another 12 coronavirus-related deaths have been reported in the province, in addition to 1,004 new Covid-19 cases, said Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah on Saturday.

Following this, the infection tally in the province climbed to 217,636 and the Covid-19 death toll to 3,594, according to the statement issued by the CM.

He said the results of 13,886 samples screened for the virus were released on the day, of which 7.2 per cent were found infected.

Of the new cases, 843 were detected in Karachi, 35 in Hyderabad, 13 in Badin, 10 in Khairpur, eight each in Matiari and Sanghar, six each in Ghotki, Jacobabad and Shikarpur, four in Tando Allahyar, three in Naushero Feroze, two in Shaheed Benazirabad and one in Umerkot.

The CM stated that meanwhile, 543 more patients recovered from the contagious disease, lifting the total number of recoveries in the province to 196,677.

He said currently, 17,365 Covid-19 were undergoing treatment in Sindh, of whom 16,548 were in home isolation, 805 in hospitals and 12 in isolation centres. The CM added that the condition of 726 patients was critical and 77 of them were on ventilators.
