22-year-old student shot dead by police in Islamabad

Police opened fire at the tinted vehicle when it did not stop for checking

A 22-year-old youth was shot dead by Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) personnel in the G-10 area of ​​Islamabad on Saturday.

According to reports, Osama Satti was coming after dropping his friend in the area of ​​Shams Colony.

Speaking to the Express, Farrukh Satti, cousin of the slain, said that ATS personnel were on patrol in the area and had asked Osama to pull over however, when he did not stop, they indiscriminately opened fire on him.

Tinted glasses

The police spokesperson said the police tried to stop the suspicious vehicle with tinted windows and opened fire when the driver did not stop.

The spokesperson clarified that the police chased the vehicle till G-10 and when it did not stop they fired at the tires of the vehicle. Unfortunately, the fire hit the driver of the vehicle which resulted in his death.

Cops arrested

Following the incident, five policemen have been arrested in the murder case and further investigations are under way.

Taking notice of the incident, IG Islamabad formed teams comprising SP Saddar and SP Investigation under the supervision of DIG Operations.

President All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajiran Ajmal Baloch said that Osama was a resident of Sector G-13 and a student whose father is a businessman. He added that the 22-year-old was not a terrorist, and this murder is the worst example of policing which should be investigated by a high court judge.

Robbery

According to sources, a robbery call was made from Safe City to the Police Helpline in Sector H-13 Paris City.

CTD personnel tried to stop the car near Kashmir Highway G-10 signal on suspicion. When the driver did not stop, CTD personnel opened fire indiscriminately. Police alleged that the driver of the car fired at them instead of stopping.

A spokesperson of PIMS said that according to the post-mortem, the youth was shot 22 times from the front, six of which hit Osama and the rest hit the vehicle. Talking to Express News, DSP Khalid Awan said that the slain, Osama Satti, was innocent.

He went to the spot immediately after the incident happened. When the plaintiff in the robbery case identified Osama, he said that the slain was not his accused.

Claim of quarrel between victim and police

A case of murder of Osama was registered in Ramna police station under Section 302 on complaint of the father.

“My son quarreled with the Islamabad police officers a day ago where he was threatened,” the father said in his complaint.

He urged the authorities to take strict legal action against these officials and to register a case of terrorism against them.
