PESHAWAR:

The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Peshawar Police successfully arrested the culprit behind the target killing of an Assistant Sub Inspector belonging to the elite force from the area of Dir Colony ten days ago.

The accused has been identified as Adnan, a resident of Sarderi area of Charsadda district who was currently residing at Landy Sarak, Peshawar.

Earlier on December 20, an ASI of elite police, Ghani Subhan was gunned down by unknown culprits who managed to escape successfully after committing the crime.

“The accused Adnan told the police that in the year 2014 his father was killed over a marriage dispute. The accused believed that his father was killed by ASI Ghani Subhan and he wanted to settle the score by killing him whenever possible. On December 20 he finally managed to carry out the murder with the help of an aide,” said SP CTD Khan Zeb while addressing a press conference on Wednesday. He was accompanied by SSP Operations Mansoor Aman.

“We are investigating the matter thoroughly and checking whether this man is telling the truth or not,” he said, adding that they were trying to find out the real motive of the murder.

“We are verifying his claims and trying to know whether it is a terrorism case or any personal motive is behind this murder,” SP Zeb said, added that they were also looking for his aides who helped him in carrying out the murder.
