Hollywood superstar Johnny Depp had a very tumultuous year in 2020 for reasons other than the ongoing pandemic. The year had been filled with continuous litigation along with several career setbacks for the Pirates of the Caribbean star.

Keeping his spirits high, the actor in a recent Instagram post acknowledged the difficulties he faced for the past 12 years and hoped for a better tomorrow, reported Vanity Fair.

He shared to his Instagram account a black-and-white photo of himself with The Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan on the set of the film Crock of Gold, writing in the caption, "This year has been so hard for so many. Here’s to a better time ahead. Happy Holidays, everyone! My love and respect to you all. Eternally, JD."

Depp has been through multiple personal battles in recent years, with the latest being a legal battle with a British tabloid that called him a "wife-beater" in which he suffered an embarrassing loss. As a result, the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory actor – once, one of Hollywood’s most sought-after heroes – has also been dropped from the Fantastic Beasts franchise he had been a part of for years.

Additionally, Disney also blocked  Depp from making a returning cameo appearance to the super popular Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, reported Daily Mail. He played the melodramatic Captain Jack Sparrow in the films, which even earned him an Academy Award nomination.
