Sugar cane cess committee reviews condition of routes

The Divisional Sugar Cane Development Cess Committee has approved construction, repair and rehabilitation of four roads with allocation of Rs60 million from cess funds.

In this regard, a meeting of the Sugar Cane Development Cess Committee was held on Saturday. It was presided over by Divisional Commissioner Saqib Manan.

Development Director Dr Naveed Iftikhar Aulukh briefed the meeting about the technical status of the schemes and available funds.

It was informed that in the sugar mills area of Toba Tek Singh district, a cost of Rs12.143 million would be incurred on rehabilitation and improvement of the Toba-Shorkot road from Al Halal chowk to Shahbaz chowk, in Jhang a cost of Rs5.109 million for the rehabilitation of a road from Gojra Road Kot Lakhnana to Chindi Wala. An amount of Rs5.321 million has been allocated for the rehabilitation of a road from Basti Islam to Qatalpur Road up to the district boundary and Rs36.491 for widening and improvement of then route from Chak Jhumra Shahkot Road to Chak 156 RB Derh.

The divisional commissioner directed authorities concerned that after approval of the roads projects, all departmental progress for the commencement of construction work should be completed soon.
