The Rawalpindi Police on Thursday busted an inter-district gang of car lifters and arrested three of its members, including its ring leader, and recovered 10 stolen vehicles worth over Rs20 million from their possession, a police spokesperson shared.
The official said that on special directives of the City Police Officer (CPO) Ahsan Younas, the Potohar SP had constituted a team under the supervision of the Airport police station SHO. The team apprehended two people allegedly involved in stealing cars, he added.
The spokesperson mentioned that the three gangsters were identified as Nadeem Khan, Zahoor Shah and Owais Ahmed. The police team recovered five Toyota Corollas XLIs, two GLIs, a Corolla, a Honda Civic and a Suzuki Mehran from their possession.
Apart from the 10 stolen vehicles, police said that they also recovered fake documents and number plates of vehicles.
During questioning, the gang members allegedly confessed to stealing vehicles from different areas of Punjab, including Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Mianwali.
