The establishment of new industrial units by Chinese, Asian, European, Turkish and Saudi companies at the industrial zone of Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development and Management Company (FIEDMC) will generate employment opportunities on a vast scale besides providing revenue for the government.
These views were expressed by FIEDMC Chairman Mian Kashif Ashfaq during his visit to the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) on Thursday.
He gave a detailed presentation on the ongoing projects and development work undertaken by the enterprise. He announced the establishment of a facilitation desk at the LCCI to disseminate investment-related information to members of the chamber.
He apprised LCCI office-bearers and executive committee members of the facilities being offered at the FIEDMC industrial estate.
“The company has always provided state-of-the-art facilities to its customers besides resolving their issues through one-window operation on a top priority basis,” he said.
During the meeting, it was decided that a delegation of the LCCI, led by its President Mian Tariq Misbah, would visit Faisalabad to gain firsthand knowledge of the development work taking place at the industrial estate.
Speaking on the occasion, LCCI President Mian Tariq Misbah stressed that industrial estates were imperative for industrial growth, employment generation, export promotion and economic development of the country.
According to him, Special Economic Zones are the need of the hour and Pakistan needs to initiate certain steps to divert investment to the industrial sector. “There is also a dire need for an industrial policy to encourage the private sector to start rigorous industrialisation,” he said.
Misbah emphasised that incentives for the industrial sector would help a great deal in generating employment opportunities in the country.
“There is no doubt that with the establishment of Special Economic Zones across the country, the current pace of economic development will accelerate and desired results will be achieved,” he said.
The LCCI chief was of the view that development work taking place at the Allama Iqbal Industrial City would pave the way for additional projects, industrialisation, domestic and foreign investment and employment opportunities.
