When Margot Robbie mistook Prince Harry for Ed Sheeran

Actor had inadvertently offended the former Duke of Sussex

Would you be able to recognise a royal if you bumped into them at a house party? Of course, the chances of that happening are implausible. But it seems that not even Hollywood A-listers are used to such coincidences.

Case in point, Margot Robbie once revealed that because she had never seen or met with the British royals before, she actually mistook one of them, leaving them offended.

Appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to promote her film Whiskey Tango Foxtrot in 2016, Robbie opened up about a famous photo booth shot that circulated earlier that year. The shot pictured her with both Prince Harry and his cousin Princess Eugenie.

The picture was taken at a house warming for Suki Waterhouse, reported ELLE. But Robbie said she had posed for the photo without even knowing who Harry was.

In fact, she admitted she thought the mystery redheaded man might have been Ed Sheeran. In her defense, she clarified that he wasn’t wearing a crown so none would’ve guessed! “He wasn't wearing a crown, though! Like, I don't know it's a Prince,” said Robbie, in her savage Harley Quinn fashion.

She even admitted to making small talk with the former Duke of Sussex before realising he wasn’t who she thought he was. "Actually, when I saw him in those glasses, I was like, 'Oh my God, I didn't know Ed Sheeran was at the party. And he was really offended. He was like, 'Shut up!'"
