Lovers Varun Dhawan and Natasha Dalal happen to be friends from sixth grade but their friendship did not translate into anything so easily. In fact, the fashion designer actually rejected him multiple times before they got into a relationship, reported Hindustan Times.
On Kareena Kapoor Khan’s radio show What Women Want, Dhawan recently spilled the beans about his relationship with Dalal. “The first time I met Natasha was in sixth standard. We have not been dating since then. We were friends till the 11th or 12th grade. We were very close friends,” he said. “I still remember, we went to Maneckji Cooper, she was in the yellow house and I was in the red house. It was on the basketball court that I saw her for the first time. So, in the lunch break, in the canteen, they give you food and an energy drink. I remember her walking, I remember seeing her and actually, when I saw her that day, I felt like I fell in love with her. That was it.”
Yet, it was much later that the duo starting dating. “She rejected me three-four times,” Dhawan admitted. “But I didn’t give up hope.”
Dalal seems to have fit right in with the actor’s family and is often seen accompanying them at events. Most recently, she was seen along with his mother at Anil and Sunita Kapoor’s Karwa Chauth celebrations earlier this year.
Dhawan also hinted that marriage is on the cards. “See, marriage coming into this time period, after you have been with someone for so long… I felt like getting married after I saw my brother and bhabhi and after my niece came. So when I saw my niece, I was like this is good,” he said. “Natasha and her parents have been pretty chill in that sense. But I think after a certain period, when you decide that you want to live with each other, I think she and I would not mind… like living in together. But I think my parents, in that sense wanted us… Because I have my own place now.”
According to reports, Dhawan and Dalal were set to tie the knot this year and had finalised Thailand for a destination wedding. However, the Covid-19 pandemic put a damper on their plans.
On the work front, Dhawan is currently gearing up for the release of his father David Dhawan’s Coolie No 1 remake, in which he plays the lead role opposite Sara Ali Khan. The film, which will release on Amazon Prime Video this Christmas, also marks the digital debuts for both the actors. After that, he will next be seen with Kapoor and Neetu Singh in Jug Jug Jeeyo.
