Khattak wants early completion of CRBC project feasibility

The defence minister says the project would be beneficial for irrigating 260,000 acres of barren land in the province

ISLAMABAD:

Defence Minister Pervaiz Khattak on Monday directed the Wapda to complete the feasibility of Chashma Right Bank Canal (CRBC) project within nine months saying the plan is vital for the agricultural development of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Khatta, who is also the chairman of steering committee on CRBC, noted that the project would be beneficial for irrigating 260,000 acres of barren land in the province.

He observed that the project had already been delayed and warned that no further postponement in this regard would be tolerated.

He expressed these views while chairing the first meeting of the steering committee on CRBC in the Parliament.

The constitution of the panel was approved by National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser to review the progress of CPEC-related projects in the KP.

SAPM Arbab Shahzad sought monthly progress report about the timeline of the projects.

The meeting was attended by federal minister Ali Amin Gandapur, CPEC Standing Committee Chairman Sher Ali Arbab, SAPM Arbab Shazad, KP Minister for Finance Taimur Saleem Jhagra, MNA Yaqoob Sheikh, KP additional chief secretary and other senior officials.
