Another 1,343 Covid cases in Sindh, nine deaths

Of the new cases, 1,133 reported in Karachi alone

As many as 1,343 fresh coronavirus cases and nine deaths were reported in the province overnight, said Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement on Sunday. The provincial coronavirus tally has soared to 195,702 and the death toll now stands at 3,158.

Another 851 patients also recovered from the virus between Saturday and Sunday, taking the number of recoveries in Sindh to 167,343, according to Shah.

As many as 10,270 tests were conducted and 1,343 positive cases were detected indicating a detection rate of 30 per cent, said Shah. A total of 2,148,246 tests have been conducted thus far in the province.

According to the CM, the number of active Covid-19 cases in the province has risen to 25,201. Of these, 24,225 patients are in home isolation, 960 are being treated in different hospitals and 16 are in isolation centres. The CM added that 764 coronavirus patients are in critical condition with at least 88 shifted on ventilators.

Of the 1,343 newly diagnosed cases, 1,133 were reported in the provincial capital alone. Shah shared that 368 cases emerged in the East district, 268 in Korangi, 256 in South, 132 in Central, 82 in Malir and 27 in West districts.

Moreover, Hyderabad saw 24 new cases, Khairpur 21, Jacobabad 15, Ghotki 11, Jamshoro, Sukkur, Umerkot, Qambar-Shahdadkot and Sanghar 10 each, Shaheed Benazirabad eight, Badin six, Shikarpur five, Larkana four, Tando Muhammad Khan three, Noushero Feroze and Sujawal two each and Thatta and Dadu saw one new case each.
