A fire broke out in a house in Landhi on Saturday night, killing a woman and her minor daughter and leaving two others injured.
Reema, 35, and her daughter Abreesh, 5, died in the fire, while her husband, Nazim, 40, and son, Alhamd, 7, sustained burn injuries.
Rescue workers and fire officials retrieved the deceased and the injured from the house and shifted them to Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital. Hospital sources say the condition of both the injured is unstable.
According to K-Electric (KE) workers, the fire was set off by an explosion in the UPS battery, which was overcharged. Fire officers managed to extinguish the blaze using one fire tender and launched the rescue operation.
