Nature provided both the ultimate inspiration and the muse for an online, group exhibition of paintings which opened on Thursday.
Titled ‘The Colours of Margalla Hills’, the exhibition provided the opening for the annual mountain festival. The festival is organised by the Development Communications Network (Devcom-Pakistan) to celebrate the UN International Mountain Day (IMD), marked worldwide on December 11.
Owing to the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) restrictions, the exhibition and much of the festival will be held online this year.
As many as 17 oil-on-canvas paintings, one from each artist of the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, have been put on display on the page of Pakistan Mountain Festival. While the exhibition is online, the paintings were completed in a live painting competition.
Participating artists include Riffat Ara Baig, Marriam Rasool, Beenish Azam, Saima Ashraf, Beenish Ali, Mahsoun Mustafa, Mobin Abbas, Sana Sagheer, Samina Azhar, Sadia Ali, Fadia, Madiha Usman, Mariyam Mushtaq, Fizza Azhar, Shumaila, and Abeera Habib.
