The Tehreek-e-Kashmir (TeK) UK on Thursday organised a webinar in connection with the International Human Rights Day to seek the world's attention to end the rising human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
During the conference chaired by TeK UK President Raja Fahim Kayani, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Sardar Masood Khan said that the world must take the notice of human rights abuses in IIOJK.
He said that it is time that we vehemently raise the Kashmir dispute at every global forum to halt India from the genocide of Kashmiris.
"Now India is grabbing the land and demolishing the homes of nomads in IIOJK which shows how swiftly the Indian government is working to follow the pattern of Israel in IIOJK. Such acts from Modi government may put the whole peace of South Asia at stake," Masood added.
Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar said that they have been working tirelessly to highlight the sufferings of the people of IIOJK at the international level for the last four decades.
He also congratulated Fahim Kayani for organising such a successful Kashmir conference on world human rights day.
He said that Kayani is a pioneer of Kashmir virtual diplomacy, saying that he is the first one who initiated online conferences when the pandemic started.
The Punjab governor further said that Kashmir runs in the blood of every Pakistani. "We assure the people of IIOJK that Pakistan will continue to support them in the right to self-determination struggle."
UK MP Steve Baker said that world must settle the Jammu and Kashmir dispute as per the wishes of Kashmiris. "Kashmiris' sufferings must come to an end."
MP Afzal Khan said that more delay in the settlement of IIOJK may put the South Asian peace at stake which is dangerous for global peace as well. "People of Kashmir must be given their right to self-determination granted by the United Nations and more delay in the plebiscite is injustice with people of IIOJK."
Former MEP Phil Bennion said that it is now the duty of the world to honour and respect the human rights of Kashmiri people who are fighting for their political rights as well.
MP Muhammad Yasin said that India should respect the UN resolutions and immediately conduct the plebiscite in IIOJK to end the sufferings of the people of Kashmir and let them decide about their future.
The TeK UK president said that India is violating the basic rights in IIOJK to cement the illegal occupation that needs global attention on a humanitarian basis."Besides political, the IIOJK is also the humanitarian issue that must be settled on the basis of humanity."
Recently, the UN rapporteur for human rights wrote two letters raising these issues with the Indian government to which they received no reply further highlighting the need for external pressure to assist the Kashmiri people and ensure the prevention of major conflict.
