Sindh sees another 1,664 Covid cases, eight deaths

The province has hitherto seen 180,904 cases and 2,991 persons have succumbed to the virus

As many 1,664 more Covid-19 cases and another eight virus-related deaths were reported in Sindh on Friday.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said in a statement that the province has hitherto seen 180,904 cases and 2,991 persons have succumbed to the virus.

Of the fresh cases, 1,360 belong to Karachi and 94 to Hyderabad - the two areas with the highest figures in the province.

Moreover, the CM said that with 972 fresh recoveries, the provincial total had risen to 157,006.

This leaves 20,907 active cases, he explained, adding that 20,066 patients were in home isolation, 11 in quarantine centres and 830 in hospitals.

At least 729 of them are in critical condition, with 37 on ventilators as of Friday, the CM went on to say.
