Pakistan, Argentina join hands against Covid

The forum was also attended by a large number of health professionals from South American countries

ISLAMABAD:

Health experts of Argentina and Pakistan discussed measures to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

A virtual discussion forum was organised by the Embassy of Pakistan in Argentina in which health experts and authorities of both countries participated.

National Institute of Blood Diseases (NIBD) Director Dr Tahir Shamsi also attended the virtual discussion room.

The Argentinian health experts included National Directorate of Healthcare Services Management Adviser Dr Daniel Fontana.

The forum was also attended by a large number of health professionals from South American countries. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Argentina Muhammad Khalid Ejaz underlined the importance of cooperation between Pakistan and Argentina under the current situation.

The ambassador reiterated the resolve to continue the partnership between both countries for sharing of experiences and expertise on different subjects including clinical trials of plasma therapy.

Ejaz emphasised health authorities of both countries should collaborate directly despite slightly different systems.

Dr Shamsi informed that Pakistan started the plasma therapy and followed World Health Organisation (WHO) model and treated 357 patients with Covid-19.
