Following the announcement of former President Donald Trump's victory in the 2024 presidential election on November 6, celebrities quickly took to social media to express their thoughts.
Trump secured his return to the White House with key wins in battleground states like Pennsylvania, Georgia, North Carolina, and Wisconsin, ultimately gaining the 270 electoral votes necessary for victory. While MAGA supporters celebrated, many Democrats and Vice President Kamala Harris's fans expressed their concerns about what another Trump presidency might mean for the United States and women's rights.
Stars from both sides of the political spectrum shared their views, including Christina Applegate, Ariana Grande, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Dave Portnoy. Cardi B posted a candid selfie with a straightforward message: "I hate yall bad." Portnoy shared a provocative video discussing Trump's win, while others offered hopeful words for women, LGBTQ+, and transgender individuals.
In her concession speech, Harris urged her supporters, especially young voters, to maintain their resolve.
"To everyone who is watching: Do not despair. This is not a time to throw up our hands. This is a time to roll up our sleeves,” she stated at Howard University. “A fundamental principle of American democracy is that when we lose an election, we accept the results. That principle, as much as any other, distinguishes democracy from monarchy or tyranny, and anyone who seeks to public trust must honor it.”
“While I concede this election, I do not concede the fight that fueled this campaign,” she added.
