The advent of modern technology has changed the paradigm of development and now there is a need to invest in human resources to accelerate development in the country.

This was stated by speakers as a two-day international workshop and exhibition on artificial intelligence (AI) developed and marketed by various institutions in Pakistan kicked off at COMSTECH on Tuesday.

COMSTECH Coordinator General Dr Iqbal Choudhary stressed that it is time to fund innovation and create centres of excellence in artificial intelligence.

Sir Syed CASE Institute of Technology Chancellor Dr Shoaib Khan stressed the need to have a policy and strategy to nurture, adopt, develop, and implement AI in Pakistan to ultimately reap benefits of this technology.

Interactive Group’s Chairman and Group CEO Dr Shahid Mahmud pointed to how AI technologies are changing the world. He added that some technology moguls are now richer than most countries due to the application of these modern technologies. He urged Pakistan to develop a strategy to trigger the potential of artificial intelligence.

In the exhibition hall, 11 exhibitors from across Pakistan displayed their AI products. At least eight researchers also showcased their work.

A workshop consisting of six technical sessions, conducted by 18 experts was also held.

The workshop and exhibition will conclude today.
