PESHAWAR:

Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq has criticised the prime minister over the latter’s decision of taking ‘U-turn’, saying that such defence was contrary to Imran’s pre-poll promises.

“[PM] Imran Khan had promised that he would not lie but now he has given the word a new name: ‘U-turn’,” the JI chief said while addressing a party rally in Swat.

Siraj alleged that the incumbent government had disappointed the nation by disgracing the country in the whole world. “Our allied nations have turned their backs on us,” he said.

The JI chief added that the ‘Insaf’ government could not do justice with the tribal people, who were targeted and migrated to other parts of the country because of insurgency. “The blood of innocent people was shed in Swat. The region saw the worst migration of 1.8 million people, but as a result of these sacrifices the government of justice did injustice,” he said.

He further reminded the crowd that Imran had “promised to resign” if people protested against him however, currently many people from Karachi to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa were “cursing the premier”.

“PM Imran should fulfil his promise and resign,” the JI chief said, adding that the premier had promised to turn the Governor House(s) to universities along with building five million houses, but not a single house has been built as of yet.

He alleged that the leader, who had promised people to provide 10 million jobs, has now left 3.5 million people unemployed.

About the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), Siraj said that the grand opposition alliance was no different from each other.

“The PDM [formed] is to secure the interests of a few families, whereas we [the JI] are talking about securing the interests of this country’s poor, students, farmers, mothers and their children,” he said, “The governance in this country is running on the basis of ‘contracts’... the Jamaat-e-Islami does not stand for this.”
