Several parts of the northern Pakistan, particularly the Galyat region as well as the Murree hill station wore a white sheet after the season’s first snowfall that plummeted the temperatures below the freezing point in several areas.

With advent of a biting cold, the locals confined themselves to their houses. Similarly, tourists from outside are confined to the hotel rooms. Some venture out but not without donning warm clothes. Blanket-clad tourists are seen enjoying drinking hot drinks outside against a white milieu.

In Ayubia, the severity of cold increased as the winter hit its climax after the first snowfall on the mountains Murree and Galyat. However, power outages continued in different parts of Galyat, including Koza Gali, Khanspur Road, Bakot, Nathia Gali Road, Tajwal Road and Sawar Gali.

The Galyat is a famous tourist destination of Pakistan, as tourists descend here in large numbers in the winter season to see the snowfall. However, due to the unavailability of proper facilities for the local population as well as the tourists, the people often face difficulties.

The cold snap in Murree, famously known as ‘the Queen of Hills’ has also intensified amid cold winds, deep clouds and snowfall. Tourists in warm clothes are seen on Mall Road and other tourist spots enjoying the charming cold weather.
