What inspired you to start a brand catering to costume jewellery and fashion accessories?

I always believe in simple and minimalist things which is why I came up with Kuku a lifestyle fashion label that focuses on a really simple yet subtle way to carry any outfit. Our brand exhibits the essence of simple - daily wear items that are lifestyle fashionable statement pieces. We are not just about jewellery and bags but soon we will be bringing in more lifestyle accessories.

What are your popular pieces of jewellery at Kuku?

Our hot sellers are the Kloe chain bags and coin necklaces.

Do you feel that costume Jewellery is taking over precious Jewellery?

Big time! Not everyone can afford luxurious and precious jewellery which is why costume jewellery has now taken over many of the market segments creating affordability across many SEC’s which in turn results in more business and larger customer base.

Do consumers in Pakistan have good understanding of luxury items or is it just a show off investment?

Partially I believe many people are not aware of good luxury items, it has become more of a show off investment then to carry statement pieces to make one look good. I think it has become more about “how others perceive you than how you see yourself”- your very own personal statement bit is now lost somewhere.

What are some other items on your radar that you want to stock at Kuku?

We believe in thorough research and attention to detail so some of the items are in the pipeline but will reveal once the time is right.

What are the winter colours to opt for in a bag this season?

Dark colours like maroon, burgundy, browns are a must have. It’s more of what looks good on you than what’s being followed. Create your own style statement ladies, that’s what Kuku is all about.

Give one word to describe your Jewellery?

The “It” jewellery. Anything you can spot from the doorway, when it’s seated at the back of the room. It matters little what ‘It’ is - pearls, beads, crystal, chains - just make it big, bold and beautiful.
