HYDERABAD:

Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party vice-chairperson Altaf Jiskani, who was shot dead on Wednesday, was laid to rest in Tando Allahyar district on Thursday, as party workers observed strikes in several districts.

The FIR for the murder, nominating four named suspects and two unidentified ones, was filed at the A-Section police station in Tando Allahyar on the complaint of Jiskani's brother Zeeshan.

It nominated Aslam Rind, Khalilur Rehman alias Bholo Khanzada, Zameer Rind, Mashooq alias Pappu Rind and two others, under Sections 302, 147, 148 and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code and Sections 6/7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.

According to Zeeshan, he along with Jiskani, another brother and an uncle were going to Hyderabad in two separate cars, with Jiskani driving alone, when the incident occurred. "When we were on the bypass road, three motorcycles crossed our cars. Aslam opened fire on my brother from the driver's side and Rehman from the other side," he alleged.

He added that Jiskani lost control of the car, which rolled down the roadside.

Zeeshan claimed he, another brother and his uncle could identify the two unknown men, one of whom had a Kalashnikov, by sight. He claimed the assailants also opened fire at them when they tried to rush to Jiskani's aid.

CIA DSP Aslam Langha, meanwhile, told the media that Jiskani, Rind and Rehman were known enemies. According to him, the police raided Rind's residence, but the entire family had fled the town.

He further refuted STP chairperson Dr Qadir Magsi's allegation that Jiskani was abducted before being killed.
