LDA launches action against illegal buildings

Demolishes a house built on public utility site

The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has retrieved public utility sites in approved private housing schemes besides sealing offices of three societies on account of non-fulfilment of legal requirements by their developers.

On the direction of LDA Director General Ahmed Aziz Tarar, on Thursday, officials of the Estate Management Directorate of Private Housing Schemes demolished illegally constructed structures from the graveyard site and plot reserved for public building in the TIP Housing Society.

LDA officials also demolished a tower constructed in a public park and a house built on public utility site. Boundary wall of Khayaban-e-Zahra was also demolished over violation of law. Encroachments were also removed and path between Gul Daman Society and Punjab Society was cleared.

The authority also razed boundary wall of an illegal housing society, Aftab Homes.

The LDA officials also sealed offices of approved private housing schemes, including Valencia Town, Pasco Employees Society and Audit and Accounts Society, due to non-compliance with legal requirements, non-fulfilment of transfer deeds and irregularities in the approved scheme plan.

The LDA also sealed over 70 shops for illegal commercial use of land on Defense Road.
