DIJKOT:

Police on Wednesday registered a case against three suspects including a couple for sexually abusing a married woman and kidnapping her newborn from the hospital after eight months of delay.

The victim, a resident of Hanif Market Mohalla Garden Colony, told the police that the suspect had befriended her through social media (facebook) in 2018 and visited her in the absence of her husband. She alleged that the suspect molested then threatened her to not report it to the police.

He continued to sexually engage with her over the years, threatening her each time; however when the victim got pregnant with the child of her husband, she forbade the suspect identified as Nishad Khan from calling or visiting her.

As per sources, the victim was admitted to Tahir Hospital in Hajiabad when her condition deteriorated on March 30. She birthed her child on March 31. Allegedly, the suspect, who is a resident of Sultanpura, came to the hospital with his wife Shaheen Akhtar and accomplice Iqbal Khan and abducted her infant. The victim stated that she was unconscious due to the medicine at the time of her child’s kidnapping. After regaining consciousness, she contacted Nishad who threatened to kill the infant if she contacted the police to recover her baby.

Sources said the mother of the newborn contacted the police to register a case against the accused and upon failing to do so she got the case registered through the court.
