A man, who had recently moved back home from Saudi Arabia, committed suicide by swallowing poisonous pills when he failed to reconcile with his second wife on Friday.
Police handed over the dead body to the heirs after completing legal formalities.
The 45-year-old moviemaker Yusuf, son of Ramzan, resident of Chak No 203 RB Malikpur, had returned home 25 days ago from Saudi Arabia to make up with his second wife.
He had married Maheen, a resident of Mohalla Garden Colony Street No 1, more than 12 years back and had sent her money through which she bought a house on her credentials. The couple also had a boy together.
After the moviemaker came back to the country, Maheen sent a Khula notice to him. Yusuf along with locals went to her house to convince her but she refused to get back together. Then again, she sent another Khula notice to him on Thursday in which he was summoned by the court on November 14.
In desperation, Yusuf went to her residence again on Friday to convince her, however, Maheen did not open the door for him. Bogged down by her attitude, the moviemaker consumed poisonous pills at the door step of the house. He was taken to the hospital in a critical condition where he passed away.
ASI Arshad Ali Chatha of Millat Town police station revealed that Yusuf hadinitially married Nighat Bibi in 1995 and the couple hadfour children before he married the second time with Maheen.
