ISLAMABAD:

The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Tuesday announced the new Umra Policy 2020 under which the two-way economy class fare between Karachi and Medina Munawwara was fixed at Rs91,000 and Rs96,000 from other Pakistani cities.

The PIA is restarting its Umra flights from different parts of the country to Jeddah and Medina Munawwara following the recently announced resumption of the pilgrimage that was limited by the Saudi authorities early this year due to Covid-19 pandemic.

As per arrangement, the economy class return airfare, including all relevant taxes, from Karachi will be Rs91,000 and that from other cities would be Rs96,000. The baggage allowance for each passenger will be 36 kilogrammes, whereas for infants it would be 10 kilogrammes.

According to PIA spokesman Abdullah Khan this special service will continue till December 31 and that the national flag carrier had already started “group booking” for Umra passengers, with a minimum limit of 10 passengers for every single group.

Mentioning that Umra tickets were also available on PIA network, the spokesman said that pilgrims intending to avail executive economy services were being offered baggage allowance of two bags, weighing 40 kilograms.

Every pilgrim will also be allowed to carry five liters of Aab-e-Zamzam on the return journey and that they might further be allowed to go for free-of-charge change of booking facility seven days prior to the departure date.
