FIR filed against Poonam Pandey for stripping on Goa beach while Milind Soman roams free

While Poonam was called out for 'obscenity', Milind was lauded for his tout physique

In the last two days, two Bollywood actors faced contradicting consequences for a rather similar act. According to Hindustan Times, Model-actor Milind Soman celebrated turning 55 by posting a picture that shows him running naked on a Goa beach, which resulted in fans lauding the actor's suave physique even at that age. 

“Happy birthday to me! #55,” he wrote while sharing the picture on Instagram and Twitter, and gave photo credit to his wife Ankita Konwar.

However, the same couldn't be said for Poonam Panday, who was doing a photo shoot around the same location. On Wednesday, police also filed an FIR, first against unknown persons and then against Pandey under section 294 (obscenity) of the Indian Penal Code, after the Goa Police had received nearly half a dozen written complaints regarding the controversial photoshoot.

A police inspector was suspended on Thursday following outrage over Pandey's controversial photoshoot at a restricted dam site in South Goa, police said.

Photos from the provocative shoot featuring Pandey, held at the Chapoli dam in Canacona sub-district, had gone viral earlier this week, which sparked protests in the area, with ruling and opposition party members staging a protest on Thursday, demanding action against police officials permitting the shoot.

The protestors had threatened to close down the town of Canacona for a day while demanding action for the alleged dereliction on part of the police.

"Police inspector in-charge of the Canacona police station Tukaram Chavan has been suspended," Deputy Superintendent of Police Nelson Albuquerque told the protestors in Canacona.

Indian writer Apurva Asrani took to Twitter to make a point on the discrimination in both the pictures. 

He wrote while sharing pictures of both actors, “Poonam Pandey and Milind Soman both stripped down to their birthday suits in Goa recently. Pandey partly, Soman completely. Pandey is in legal trouble - for obscenity. Soman is being lauded for his fit body at age 55. I guess we are kinder to our nude men than to our nude women.”
