RFAK becomes first Pakistani with 5 million YouTube subscribers
Renowned singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has become the first Pakistani artist to garner five million subscribers on YouTube. The King of Melody, also ranks the third in the race of subscribers in India, according to Express News.
Khan took to Instagram on Tuesday to thank his fans for their “love and support.”
Earlier, UK’s prestigious Oxford University had awarded him with a doctorate in music. At a grand ceremony in London on June 26, 2019, the institution awarded the world-renowned artist for promoting poetry around the world.
“Born into a family whose name has become synonymous with South Asian musical tradition, he began formal training at the age of seven and has since released more than 50 albums, performed in numerous high-profile concerts across the world and amassed a global following, achieving over one billion views online,” the University said about Khan. “Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has sung more than 50 title tracks of television serials and over 100 film songs in both Hollywood and Bollywood,” it added.
To mark the occasion, Khan dedicated his award to his family and team, which included the efforts of Salman Ahmed. “I am also very grateful to the new generation, who has taken my songs to the heights of fame and popularity on social media,” he said.
The Teri Meri hit maker then remembered, Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, elaborating on how he was the greatest Pakistani Qawwal, musician and singer to ever live.
