ISLAMABAD:

Terming the Golra Interchange the ‘face of the capital’ as it serves as an entry point to the city, the head of the apex civic authority of the city on Sunday directed to speed up work on the interchange.

This was directed by Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration Chief Commissioner Aamer Ali Ahmed on Sunday while inspecting work at various interchanges and thoroughfares of the city.

Ahmed visited the Golra Interchange, the Srinagar Highway and major thoroughfares in Sectors I-10, I-11 and H-10.

During his visit, the CDA chief said that they were committed to building a cleaner and greener federal capital. In this regard, he said that they have started several projects to uplift the city’s outlook while long pending work in several ignored sectors has also begun.

The projects initiated aim to provide clean drinking water to citizens, cleanliness, managing the city’s sewerage, beautification, lane marking, installing kerbstones, upgrading parks, restoration of street lights, and tree plantation campaigns.

Inspecting uplift, landscaping and beautification work at the Golra Interchange, Ahmed said that the site represented the face of the city since it is an entry point. Hence it was important that not only should the interchange look good but also offer a glimpse of what the city is like. He directed to complete work on the project at the earliest.

While visiting the Srinagar Highway, the CDA chief directed to complete carpeting and other works on the road.

Ahmad also visited sectors I-10, I-11, and H-10 and directed the relevant officials to resolve issues faced by residents of these sectors on a priority.
