Some 11 universities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad have developed a comprehensive training model for awareness and screening of breast cancer. For this purpose, Rawalpindi Medical University (RMU) hosted a conference which was headed by Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) Vice-Chancellor Dr Muhammad Ali on Saturday.
The representatives of 11 universities including RMU, QAU, Shifa Tamir-e-Millat University Islamabad, Riphah University Islamabad, Isra University Islamabad, Comsats University Islamabad, Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) Rawalpindi, Government College Women University, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto (SZAB) University participated in the meeting.
Under the plan, all higher educational institutions would start awareness and screening campaigns against breast cancer at the university level. The forum’s secretariat would be established at RMU.
The students and staff would be trained to create awareness in the community.
The varsities also agreed on establishing a registry for breast cancer patients and to use the compiled data in research work. The next session of the forum would take place in QAU and FJWU
