KARACHI:

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) Karachi leadership announced a rally to be held to pay tribute to the Pakistan Army in the metropolis on Sunday (today).

Addressing a press conference at Insaf House, Sindh Assembly opposition leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi and PTI Karachi president Khurrum Sher Zaman said they had decided to carry out the rally not just for their party but for the entire nation.

"We want to tell Pakistan's enemies that we stand shoulder to shoulder with our army," asserted Naqvi, adding that the army was known as a great force across the world.

Accusing the Pakistan Democratic Movement of being preoccupied with politics, he claimed the opposition alliance had failed to pay any heed to Indian atrocities in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Zaman elaborated that the purpose of the rally was to show that the PTI stood by the decisions made by the country's institutions, including the armed forces and the judiciary.

"The PDM is trying to prevent Pakistan's development," he insisted, claiming that Prime Minister Imran Khan, meanwhile, had made attempts to stabilise the economy and deal with the Covid-19 outbreak.

The PTI leaders urged rally participants to wear masks and follow pandemic-related standard operating procedures.
