The film stars Priyanka Chopra alongside Adarsh Gourav and Rajkumar Rao

The first look of Priyanka Chopra's upcoming Netflix film, The White Tiger was unveiled recently, reported India Today.  Chopra shared the trailer of the film with the caption alongside that read, “Presenting the first look trailer of #TheWhiteTiger. You believe your destiny is what was bred in you... till you find a way to break free. I'm so proud to be part of this project. From writer-director Ramin Bahrani, The White Tiger is an adaptation of The New York Times Bestseller and the 2008 Man Booker Prize Winning novel by Aravind Adiga."

Judging from the trailer, the film in many ways is a social commentary on the class divide in India. Adarsh Gourav plays the central character Balram, who is the servant of the wealthy Ashok played by Rao. Through the course of the trailer, the audience is shown a glimpse into the conflict Balram is faced with i.e whether to accept his standing in society like those coming from his socio economic class or go against the grain.

The trailer begins with a voice saying, "When you come to India, you'll meet millions of servants like me.” We then see Balram talk about how being a servant is what has been instilled in him since birth. Perhaps a node to the class system in India.

Later on the trailer takes an intense turn and focuses on Balram wanting 'break free' from his invisible shackles. The trailer ends with Balram saying, "It's the century of the brown man and the yellow man. And may god save everybody else," putting on a pair of sunglasses, and smiling.

Chopra plays the role of Pinky Madam in the film. In an earlier post, Chopra had shared certain details of her character in the film. "In #TheWhiteTiger, I play the role of Pinky madam, who is a first generation immigrant in the US. She is in India with her husband, who is travelling for business. And then... life changes! Pinky madam is such a specific character, to play her unravelling in the story was such a joy. This is a story that needs to be told and it comes alive with its characters so compellingly in Ramin’s hands," she wrote.
