PTI govt will be sent home by December, claims Fazl

Opposition leaders say PDM only platform which provides way to get ‘rid’ of incumbent regime

Opposition leaders on Tuesday reiterated that the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) was the only platform that provided a way to get “rid” of the PTI-led government and predicted that the incumbent regime would be sent packing by December.

“The way things are going, the government should be sent home by December,” JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said while speaking to media in Sukkur.

Rehman maintained that a common man had been rendered helpless and was suffering due to the “poor” policies of the government.

He vowed that public gatherings and rallies would continue until the people got their right of vote.

“We can hold talks with the allies of PTI but not with the ruling party. We want to represent the people. Those who think the masses are suffering have joined us,” he said.

 The JUI-F chief alleged that the premier was a “foreign agent” and wanted to cause damage to the country.

Commenting on the NAB, he said it was an institution that resorted to vengeful political victimisation and was being used to hide the “failures” of the government.

He said the presidential ordinance on islands and coastlines was against the 18th Amendment and added that these coasts were the property of the provinces.

He condemned the French president’s remarks on blasphemy and stressed that the feelings of none should be hurt under the guise of freedom of expression and speech.

Rehman urged the people to boycott French products and revoke agreements with European companies.

He also condemned the madrassah blast in Peshawar.

In Jati Umra, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz and BNP-M chief Akhtar Mengal held a meeting and stated that the PDM was the only platform, which offered a way to get “rid” of the incumbent regime.

Both the leaders exchanged views on the current political situation, unemployment and rising inflation and declared that all the public rallies held under the banner of PDM were successful.

Sources said that Mengal inquired about the well-being of Nawaz Sharif and expressed his best wishes for the former premier.

Both the leaders condemned the Peshawar blast and the treason cases against the opposition leaders.

Speaking to media after the meeting, the BNP-chief maintained that they had left the government as it did not implement its six-point agenda.

Addressing a public gathering in Skardu, PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the entire nation was protesting against the government and it was not able to face the people now.

Taking a jibe at the ruling party’s slogan of “tabdeeli” (change), the PPP chairperson said that it had turned into a nightmare for the masses and added that the PPP wanted to save the people of Gilgit-Baltistan from this change.

“People will not support a ‘puppet, selected’ [government]. People of Pakistan are protesting against the government. The PTI is not able to face the masses,” he said.
