Watch: 'The Conjuring 3' first look drops major plot hints

The upcoming film forgoes the haunted house model and brings the horror out in the real world

The third instalment of 2013's supernatural horror, The Conjuring, is all set to release in June 2021 . In a new video uploaded on YouTube, certain plot details of the upcoming instalment titled The Conjuring 3: The Devil Made Me Do It have been revealed, thanks to Warner Bros.

The video shows new footage of the film along with a plot breakdown that expands the film’s focus on Arne Johnson, whose 1981 case marked the first time that demonic possession was cited as a defense in a murder trial. This time around, The Conjuring franchise, instead of being centred around the haunted house model, brings the horror out into the real world, reported Screen Rant.

The film's star Patrick Wilson in the video reveals that the stakes are much higher in the new film with "even experienced real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren" getting the shock of their lives.

“The Devil Made Me Do It reveals a chilling story of terror, murder and unknown evil that shocked even experienced real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. One of the most sensational cases from their files, it starts with a fight for the soul of a young boy, then takes them beyond anything they’d ever seen before, to mark the first time in U.S. history that a murder suspect would claim demonic possession as a defense,” Wilson said.

Additionally, a segment in the video reveals that the real Arne Johnson is involved in the filmmaking process. Having Johnson on set likely helped Ruairi O'Connor master his role, but will also allow The Conjuring 3: The Devil Made Me Do It be more authentic.
