The provincial government on Monday announced plans to launch an Rs15 billion, Kohat Division Development Project. The project will be formally launched next week.
This was disclosed during a meeting to review uplift works in Kohat division on Monday. The meeting was presided over by the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan.
Participants of the meeting were informed that preparation for implementing the project has been finalised. The project is expected to be completed within five years at an estimated cost of Rs15 billion.
Under the project, uplift schemes will be launched in the agriculture, public health engineering, roads infrastructure, health, education and irrigation sectors. The districts which stand to benefit from these projects include Kohat, Karak and Hangu districts.
CM Mahmood termed the project a milestone for sustainable development of the division, adding that the implementation of the project will improve the socio-economic conditions of the region.
The chief minister directed to take elected representatives from the division and other stakeholders on board to finalise the uplift schemes.
He further directed to ensure that the developmental schemes under the project are approved by the relevant forums.
