ISLAMABAD:

Students of the educational institutions working under Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) were suffering due to the shortage of teachers.

Presently, there is a need of more teachers when students have been divided in sections to ensure distancing as part of Covid-19 Standards Operating Procedures (SOPs) among other safety measures.

When contacted, a senior official of the FDE informed that it is the fact that institutions were facing shortage of over 2,000 teachers.

But the shortage of teachers was not due to the repatriation of 50 teachers working on deputation in various FDE departments. Rather, the shortage was because the finance ministry was not creating posts.

The students have suffered from a disrupted educational routine this year due to the lockdown and have little time to cover the syllabus.

Parents say non-availability of teachers in classrooms is a violation of children's right to acquire an education.
