The Rawalpindi city police chief has ordered a probe into the alleged involvement of Sadiqabad SHO in two separate cases where he reportedly framed up two separate citizens in fake cases.
In the first incident, an SHO framed a citizen in a fake drug case while in another he registered a fake liquor case against a tailor.
The wife of a victim, Ateequr Rehman, appealed to the Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and Punjab Police Inspector General (IG) to take notice of the incident.
She told the media at Rawalpindi Press Club that a few days ago a motorcycle was stolen outside their home.
She claimed that the police had the closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footage of the incident too.
However, the complainant said that the Sadiqabad SHO Tahir Rehan and Investigation Officer (IO) Intizar Shah accused Rehman of the robbery.
She told that her husband provided every kind of required evidence to the police but it turned down everything and started harassing the victim.
Later, the complainant lodged a complaint with the Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) and sought his intervention in the matter.
The CPO took notice of the incident but interestingly ordered Sadiqabad SHO to conduct an inquiry into the matter in which he himself was nominated.
The IO Shah framed Rehman in a fake drug case and registered a First Information Report (FIR) against him.
Moreover, Rawalpindi police spokesperson said that the CPO had taken notice of the incident and New Town SP has been ordered to probe into the matter on merit.
The spokesperson said that the nominated police personnel would face punitive action if the charges proved on them.
Meanwhile, another case surfaced against Sadiqabad SHO Rehan in which he has been charged with framing a tailor in a fake liquor case after keeping him in illegal confinement and allegedly receiving a bribe of Rs250, 000.
