The Ministry of Interior has released details about terrorist attacks in the country since 2015, revealing that 3,384 people, including 1,457 law enforcement agencies personnel, embraced martyrdom in as many as 3,990 terror incidents. It stated that 8,436 people, including security personnel, sustained injuries in such attacks till September 13, 2020.
According to the documents submitted in parliament on Friday, the highest number of terror attacks province wise were reported in Balochistan while Punjab witnessed the least.
The ministry stated that the largest province of the country area wise saw 1,435 attacks in which 1,254 citizens, including security personnel, embraced martyrdom while 3,115 others sustained injuries.
K-P also witnessed a brutal five and a half years where 781 Pakistanis, including LEAs personnel, embraced martyrdom while over 1,500 others sustained injuries in 1,048 attacks.
The tribal areas (formerly known as Federally Administered Tribal Areas and merged with K-P in May 2018), the ministry said, witnessed 892 attacks in which 645 Pakistanis, including security personnel, were martyred while 1,649 others sustained injuries.
Sindh saw 371 attacks and 402 martyrdoms. The martyrs included security personnel as well as citizens.
Punjab reported 180 such attacks in which 263 Pakistanis, including security personnel, were martyred and 1,017 others sustained injuries.
The federal capital witnessed 16 such incidents in which 11 Pakistanis, including security personnel, were martyred and 16 others were hurt.
In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, 14 Pakistanis, including LEAs personnel, were martyred while 44 others were hurt in 23 incidents.
Gilgit-Baltistan witnessed 25 terror attacks in which 14 Pakistanis, including LEAs personnel, embraced martyrdom while 23 others sustained injuries.
