13,727 motorists fined

ITP personnel have been directed to ensure the implementation of traffic rules

So far this year, the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has issued 13,727 tickets to road users for defying traffic signals, a police spokesperson said. To tackle rough traffic in the capital, squads headed by Senior Superintendent of Police Traffic Farrukh Rasheed are performing duties on all the main roads of the city. SSP Rasheed said that efforts are underway to ensure disciplined traffic system in the city. In this regard, he also appealed to the citizens to follow all traffic rules. He said that ITP personnel have been directed to ensure the implementation of traffic rules and regulation irrespective of status and rank. Moreover, he directed them to demonstrate patience and politeness while issuing traffic tickets. The force issues traffic violation tickets, not as a punitive measure but the purpose is to ensure a safe road environment in the federal capital and secure the lives of the people, SSP Rasheed said, urging motorists to cooperate with the police in maintaining traffic discipline.
