Critical thinking termed key to problem-solving

Critical thinking is the basic prerequisite to solving problems and making decisions.

This was stated by the International Islamic University (IIU) Rector Dr Masoom Yasinzai on Wednesday.

He was addressing the closing ceremony of a training programme on “problem-solving and decision making skills”. The training had been organised by the Pakistan Manpower Institute (PMI).

Dr Yasinzai said that universities need to win the support of the society to retain their vitality in a world affected by the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. Educational institutions they should be relevant to societal demands, he said.

He said that critical-thinking and problem-solving attitude are aspects which universities need to focus on.
