Free doorstep healthcare for Pindi
Programme to focus on preventive community healthcare

The Community Health Inspectors Programme, providing free doorstep healthcare, will be launched in the Rawalpindi district in February this year. A total of 1,240 Community Health Inspector (CHI) posts have been allocated for the district, all to be filled by female medical inspectors.
In the first phase, 265 female CHIs have completed the tablet distribution stage. Potohar Town Health Officer Umar Farooq formally distributed tablets and health kits to the inspectors. In the second phase, training sessions and kit distribution will be carried out in Rawal Town, followed by Gujar Khan, Kahuta, Kallar Syedan and Taxila towns.
These 1,240 CHIs will operate at union council level, visiting streets and neighbourhoods to conduct free medical check-ups, including blood pressure and diabetes screening for women.
At the field level, they will monitor healthcare services and help ensure the effective implementation of immunisation, maternal and child health, nutrition, family planning and disease prevention programmes.
Chief Executive Officer of the District Health Authority, Dr Ehsan Ghani, said that the presence of CHIs and their door-to-door duties will enable early disease detection, prompt referrals, increased public awareness and the availability of reliable field data, leading to improved public health indicators.
Inspectors who have completed their training and formally joined have already begun work.
