PFA closes five units, fines 13 others

A bakery was sealed for unavailability of records and for ignoring past notices

RAWALPINDI:

In a covert operation, the Punjab Food Authority on Monday sealed five food outlets while heavy fines were imposed on 13 units for violating hygiene norms. On the directions of the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Director General Irfan Memon, teams of the authority conducted covert operations in different areas of Rawalpindi. A spokesperson for the authority said that two grinding units were sealed for incomplete labels and the sale of unpacked spices. On Khayaban-e-Sir Syed, a hotel was sealed after rats were found in the production area. Further, a dairy shop was sealed for selling adulterated milk and for maintaining a poor storage area. A bakery was sealed for unavailability of records and for ignoring past notices.
