Diversion plan issued for Zimbabwe practice

Alternative routes have been provided for the convenience of motorists

The city traffic police on Monday issued a traffic diversion plan for motorists of the garrison city for the duration of the practice sessions and matches of the Zimbabwe cricket team in the city.

Rawalpindi City Traffic Police Headquarters Duty Officer Muhammad Waseem said that during the practice matches of the Zimbabwean cricket team at the Army Cricket Stadium in Saddar from October 21 to October 25, traffic will not be allowed from TM Chowk to Peshawar Road and from MH Chowk to Kacheri.

Alternative routes have been provided for the convenience of motorists.

Traffic heading from TM Chowk to Peshawar Road will be diverted from Haider Road Turn to Mahfooz Chowk and then on to MH Chowk.

Similarly, traffic heading from MH Chowk to Kachehri will be diverted from Mahfooz Road, Railway Road, Kamran Market to Marir.

To ensure the smooth flow of traffic in the city and to implement the traffic plan, as many as 219 traffic police personnel, including four DSPs, 14 inspectors, 162 traffic wardens and 39 traffic assistants will be deployed.

Because of security needs, all traffic personnel have been directed to keep a close watch on suspicious vehicles and unregistered motorbikes apart from taking strict action against cars with tinted windows, unlicenced drivers.

Waseem further said that providing traffic facilities to citizens along with the enforcement traffic laws was the top priority of traffic police.
