Five of a family die in roof collapse near Okara

Three other victims sleeping in under-construction house injured

Four children and a woman were killed when the roof of an under-construction house collapsed in a village near Okara Ada Gambar.

Three other members of the same family were injured in the incident.

The family members were sleeping in the house when the roof collapsed.

Rescue 1122 teams arrived at the scene after receiving information about the incident.

According to Rescue 1122 sources, debris had been placed on the roof of the house that was under construction in village 60/4-L near Ada Gambar. The roof could not bear the weight of the construction material and it collapsed.

Parveen, 25, a wife of Imran, he five-day-old daughter, four-year-old Muhammad Adeel, son of Saddam Hussain, three-year-old Iman Fatima, daughter of Bilal, two-year-old Siddique, and four-year-old Shakeel, son of Imran were sleeping under the roof when it collapsed.

The woman, her five-day-old daughter, Adeel, Imaan and Siddique died on the spot, while three other people were seriously injured.

After receiving information about the incident, three teams of Rescue 1122 reached the site. They retrieved the bodies and rescued the injured from the rubble.

The injured four -year-old Shakeel was shifted to the district headquarters hospital.

The death of the five members of a local family left the villagers shocked and grieving. Deputy Commissioner Usman Ali directed the rescue service to provide immediate medical aid to the injured, while District Police Officer Faisal Shehzad the loss of lives in such an incident should be investigated.

In a similar incident on September 8, at least five members of a family and a guest died and four others were injured when the roof of their home collapsed in Lahore. The incident took place in Texali Gate area near the Pakistan Talkie Cinema in the Walled City in the early hours of the day.

The victims were asleep in their house when the building, that was in a dilapidated condition, collapsed. They were trapped under the debris.

Hearing the loud sound of the building collapsing and subsequent screams of the residents, nearby people rushed to the spot for helping them.

They also called rescue teams who launched an operation to bring the victims out of the rubble.

Separately, on July 29, a young girl passed away while another was left injured in an incident of roof collapse on Mohni Road, Lahore. The victims identified as Sania Kashif, 12, and Rania Kashif, 6, were inside the house situated near Islamia College when the roof caved in.

Moreover, on June 25, three children died when the roof of a house collapsed due to heavy rain in Basirpur Town, Depalpur tehsil, Okara district.

Ashraf’s children Sadia, Shiza and two-month-old Abu Bakr passed away in the incident of roof collapse whereas his wife and four other children were severely injured in the same accident.
