KARACHI:

Hundreds of medical students on Friday staged a protest outside the Karachi University's examination department over what they termed ‘out of course’ examinations.

The student of MBBS final shouted slogans against the university management, demanding re-examination as per their course.

Students of the Karachi Medical and Dental College (KMDC), who appeared in the MBBS exams, said that the papers for MBBS on October 10 and 12 were not in accordance with the taught syllabus. The majority of students were not able to solve two papers, they added.

When contacted by The Express Tribune, Acting Controller of Examinations Karachi University Dr Zafar blamed the professor of the college concerned who was responsible for making the paper.

"We have received a request from the students and called on Dean Medicine and the relevant professor on Saturday to look into the matter," he said.

Dr Zafar said that the matter will be taken up with the vice chancellor of the university on Saturday and a decision would soon be made in this regard.

On the other hand, the examinations department of Karachi University has not taken any decision yet as when and how the papers of five examinations of B.Com (private) would be conducted, which were delayed due to Covid-19 pandemic in February.

It is being informed that the number of these students was around 5,000.

Regarding the matter, Dr Zafar said due to the number of these students, the decision could not be made yet. "An announcement will soon be made in this regard."
