In a bid to ensure public safety, the Rawalpindi district administration has launched its operation against amusement park rides which have not been given safety clearance. Operators of swings and rides at amusement parks need to have licences. The administration will conduct the operation through the Civil Defence Department (CDD) in which special teams will seal rides running without a licence and inspect the licenced ones for safety guidelines. CDD District Officer (DO) Talib Hussain said that they had identified all parks in the district where the electronic rides were operating illegally. He added that the rides would be sealed unless they obtain a licence. Further, Hussain said that the teams would also inspect licensed rides to check if they fulfilled safety criteria. The inspection would be carried out by engineers and experts, he added. The official told that licensed rides being operated by untrained operators and lacking safety measures would also be shut down while cases would be registered against the owners.
