Seek better salaries, pension, gratuity, life insurance

Adamant on securing their right to better wages, the Lady Health Workers (LHWs) continued their sit-in at Islamabad’s D-Chowk for the second consecutive day on Thursday.

The demonstrators braved the cold night in the open air and resolved to continue their protest until the government agrees to review their service structure and release their dues.

LHWs said that they would not leave D-Chowk until their 10-demands including increment in salaries, pensions, formulation of service structure, were fulfilled by the government. A substantial number of the protesting women have come from Azad Jammu and Kashmir, besides Islamabad Capital Territory. They were demanding perks at par with those available to their counterparts servng under the provincial governments.

Further, Punjab Young Doctors Association (YDA) President Dr Salman also visited D-Chowk and announced to join the LHWs from today.

Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) lawmakers including Mehnaz Aziz and Khel Das Kohistani reached the protest location to express solidarity with the protesting workers and assured them of raising the issue in the Parliament Joint Session to start on Friday.
