CHICHWATNI:

A 40-year-old man committed suicide out of frustration due to his financial constraints near Ada Command, within the limits of Shahkot police station, Chichawatni on Wednesday.

Police said 40-year-old man, a resident of Chak No 1272L, had moved to Dubai for employment a few years ago.

During his stay at the Emirates, he reportedly earned a decent income and regularly remitted money to his family in Pakistan.

He was forced to return home after he lost his job during the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. When he returned home, he struggled with mental health issues including depression. He was reportedly deranged over losing his source of income as well as his savings.

He was married but had no children while his brother would extravagantly spend his money. These domestic issues along with the ongoing economic crisis in the country contributed to his frustrations and depression issues. He was facing constant humiliation due to unemployment and financial hardship when he could not find any job.

As a result of these problems, he committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree. Shahkot Police Station SHO Majid Ashfaq registered a case under Section 174ZF and shifted the body to a hospital for postmortem.
