A two-member of the Sindh High Court, headed by Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, sought a report on the Council of Common Interest's (CCI) meeting on the inclusion of assistant commissioners, deputy commissioners and others in the committee formed for new delimitations for elections and the results of the census.
The CCI representative informed the court that a committee was formed in January to review the census results.
The court expressed annoyance over not issuing the notification for the final results of the census, following which the deputy attorney general apprised the court that three meetings had been conducted in this regard.
"It does not matter how many meetings have been held, why is there a delay in releasing the results?" asked the bench.
Justice Mazhar observed that local body elections could not be held on time, adding that the Election Commission of Pakistan was also saying that constituencies could not be formed until the results of the census were available.
The high court sought a report regarding the CCI meeting and the results of the census by November 4.
Issuing the directives, the court adjourned the hearing.
